How Engage handles data
A short, plain description of what Engage collects and who can see it. This is a summary for people joining a meeting, not a legal agreement.
What the host can see
- Your name, as you entered it. Please use your real name, as it appears in the meeting.
- What you did in Engage and when: reactions, questions, whether you answered each prompt, and how long you have gone without any activity in Engage.
- Whether you marked yourself as presenting.
- Group results for polls, pulse checks, recall checks, word clouds and reactions. Your actual answers, including “Missed that”, are never shown next to your name.
- Your questions, shown with your name to the host and the room.
What nobody can see
- Whether you are listening, speaking, or looking at another window. Engage only sees actions you take inside Engage, so a quiet spell does not mean you were not paying attention.
- Your points, bingo card and predictions.
- Your notes and action items. They stay in your browser and are never sent to Engage.
What Engage does not collect
- No audio, video, screen content or transcripts.
- No face, voice or attention analysis.
- No accounts for attendees. You join with your name.
How long data is kept
Meeting data is saved on the server so a restart does not lose a meeting in progress. Access tokens are stored only as one-way hashes. Meetings started without a host account are deleted 24 hours after they end. Meetings that belong to a host account are kept for 30 days. The host can delete a meeting, and everything in it, at any time.
Hosts can optionally create an account with an email address and password, to keep their past meetings together. Attendees never need an account. The CSV export contains group results and question text, never names.
The mini window
Engage can open a small floating window. If you share your entire screen in a meeting, the audience can see that window. Share a single window or tab instead, or press "I'm presenting" to close it.
Questions
Ask the person who invited you to the meeting. They can tell you who is running this pilot.
